SHOTOKAN KARATE INSTRUCTOR WANTED
- Instructing specialized group and private martial arts classes
- Retention, marketing and class planning efforts
- Attending designated staff meetings
Our team of instructors works hard to provide entertaining and educational karate classes for our students. As a Karate Instructor, you will teach new skills to members to help them develop martial arts techniques while focusing on life skills such as respect, confidence, and discipline. By instructing safe, exciting and comprehensive martial arts training programs, you will help students develop, maintain, and exceed their personal mental and physical goals. Your martial arts expertise and strong teaching skills will enable you to instruct an exciting program that can’t be beat!
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Student and Client Experience
- Monitors and instructs students during martial arts training on the safe and effective use the equipment
- Instruct both private and group martial art classes
- Help develop and maintain student base
- Promote and sell martial art programs and classes
- Responsible for helping achieve or exceed monthly revenue and program goals
Managerial & Supervisory:
- Complete all administrative requirements associated with each student’s training and retention
- Maintain the cleanliness of the martial art studio
- Complete any assigned training, qualifying courses and certification needed to teach higher level classes or programs
- Comply with all company safety rules and regulations
- Use and oversee that students use all required safety devices and personal protection equipment required
- Report accidents and injuries to supervisor as soon as possible
- Participate in safety training and safety inspections
- Suggest methods of preventing hazards to supervisors
Qualifications Education:
- High School diploma (required) or Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
- 2-3 years teaching martial arts experience to youth & adults
- Black Belt in Shotokan Karate
- Experience running martial arts events (Ex. Belt Rank Testing, Seminars, Camps)
Licenses / Certifications/ Registrations:
- Certification for current belt rank
- CPR/AED certification required within the first 3 months of hire

- Excellent customer service and promotional skills, energetic, enthusiastic and motivational
- Ability to resolve conflicts in a professional, tactful manner
- Extensive knowledge of safe exercise techniques
- Awareness of potential injuries and ability to handle emergencies
- Ability to multi-task and learn quickly
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Excellent physical fitness
- Knowledge and/or experience on enrolling and marketing for new students
- Previous martial arts school management experience
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must have a clean criminal record
- Must undergo a pre-employment drug test
